3,400 miles. 60 hours of driving. Two border crossings, three dogs and approximately 999 pounds of stuff. The trek from Fairbanks, Alaska back to Kansas City, Missouri began at 4 a.m. on a Wednesday morning. There were some ice and snow packed roads, and a snow flurry or two, but for the great majority of the time we had clear skies and dry (and empty!) roads. The three dogs, who barely had room to fit in the back of the car, much less lay down, didn’t complain once and jumped happily into their tiny quarters after every stop. We drove through incredibly beautiful vistas of mountains and snow-laden trees, and saw a variety of wildlife, some of which we had never seen before, and all of which stayed safely off the roadway. The trip went incredibly well, and we are so thankful. Thankful for the time in Alaska, for safety on the road, and thankful to be back in Kansas City. God is good.
