Yukon Home!

Yukon Home!

For the first time on our trip, the roads on the last day of driving weren’t dry and clear. Thankfully they weren’t terrible, and we made it safely to Fairbanks on Monday, October 14 at about 1:30 p.m., weary but grateful. 4000 miles plus of safety. The first few days were busy with the stuff of relocation–new cell service, scheduling water and fuel delivery, unloading and unpacking. On Wednesday I unpacked and organized the kitchen while Jake and Richard, Bre and Aubrey braved the cold and stony ground and managed to build a fence for the dogs. The fur babies are happy and life is easier for all. Got to see Isaiah Carter, our oldest grandson, who has lived here for over a year and loves it. Daily temps are in the low thirties–and the locals keep telling us what a mild autumn this is! Life in Alaska begins.

Steep driveways–part of living on the side of a mountain.
The view from the living room window will never get old.
We can see the sunrise from our front door every day…and we don’t even have to get up early. Sunrise is currently about 9:30 a.m.
