Our fifth day of driving went very well, until it didn’t. In Aubrey’s words, her truck “said no.” It was still drivable after the weird sound, and we made our way to the local Chevrolet dealership, where we learned that her engine would have to be replaced. Along with the right front wheel well, and some front-end work. Not fun news. But God is so good–this happened just outside Grande Prairie, the only town of any size for the remainder of our route. And we ended up at the Doug Marshall dealership, where they took incredible care of her. After seeing her veteran’s tag and hearing her story, they proceeded to give her priority, even to the point of the mechanic staying until 2:00 a.m. to get the engine installed. The front-end guy came in the next morning to complete the work on the ball joints and tie rods, and when she picked up her truck they thanked her for her service and gave her a $50 gift card, along with a discount. If you are ever in Grande Prairie and need help, they are the place to go. After spending an extra night and day in Grande Prairie, we were back on the road by about 5 p.m. on Friday. Fortunately the planned drive for Friday was the only short one–just four hours. We finished Thursday’s interrupted drive plus Friday’s and made it to the hotel before midnight, thankful for all your prayers and God’s provision.
